so i was listening to chase atlantic while driving home from work today and i started thinking about how i need to redo my playlist to include other songs / fix the order. and THEN i started thinking about how i would categorise each song / review them. so this is that.

The categories are:

• accent strongness
• incomprehensible lyrics
• saxophone solo
• christian’s verse rating
• night drive or summer day song
• and my favourite lyric

please feel free to listen along while reading so you can fully understand the brain worms.

Also this is all just absolute nonsense and pretty much just me lyricposting and being hype in my room LOL there will probably be a TLDR top 10 ranking at the end

Dalliance - 2014 - NOT IN PLAYLIST

Chase Atlantic with the sound theyre known for now pretty much didnt start until about ~2015~ because they were on aus xfactor as What About Tonight. This first album is giving 5SOS so badly especially Anchor tattoo lmfao like i never listen to this album, flop etc. I think it might just be giving 5SOS bc theyre an australian boy band LOL but still. skip.

This album is also giving 2010s australian boy band...BUT it has the slappa FRIENDS. Verryyyy popular on tumblr edits . the other songs are snoozefest but friends is has lyric Screamability, night drive vibes. SADLY no Christian verse...but you can tell this is where they sort of find their sound.

THIS IS THE START OF CHASE ATLANTIC FOR REAL. Slow down features on this and it is top 10 songs for fucking real. ITS SOOOO theatrical im going nuts. STRONG ACCENT i specifically remember Eva tweeting about the line Waste a little money on some blow. and its so funny . im about to show you babay slaur doawn.

Im also a fake fan bc i didnt hear this until i saw someone tweet about rafe cameron to this last year and now i cant not associate it with him.

no christian verse and no saxophone but its soo night drive speakers blasting screaming.

Moonlight is also good and i think it has the first ever christian verse but its not as much of a slappa.

my personal start with chase atlantic was this song I used to drive home from my friends house at like 2am and fucking scream RIGHT HERE. CHRISTIANS VERSE........im gona throw up everywhere from screaming and crying at "One draw at a time yeah One more you'll be fine, yeah" Nut bust.  the saxophone the night drive vibes the fucking everything i LOVE this song. the accent is strong too very fun to sing.

INTO IT is another good songggggg. night drive vibes, saxophone solo, a christian verse that makes me wanna bash my head in. Triggered is literally the most toxic song ive ever fucking heard. Literally about being so jealous you attempt to kill?attack? your ex girl after stalking her but alas... BANGEERRRRRRR. Another sax tune and ANOTHER ICONIC christian verse ive gotta put the whole thing:

Why Stop Now is another recent favourite too i love it (tear emoji)... accent strong as fuck, night drive vibes. very chill compared to the last few ones. beautiful sax soloooo truly vibes on vibes. i love the hook and the prechoruss so badly i cant pick a lyric.. maybe "I'm caught up in my self-loathe, Mitchel where's your cell phone? Write this down. I'm geeking off these pills though She can't even tell saur why stop now"

Ok i basically never listen to this ep bc even tho the other parts are also on the self titled this ep is like irrelevant so its just gonna be mentioned in the next one LOL.

Self Titled - 2017

The Walls is a certified banger HEAVY on the accent, dramatic etc etc. Okay now im getting to the point where i dont know how much more i can even say bc every song after this is a repackage of the song before it SMH. its ok tho cuz they all bang. How am i only at the self titled this is taking FOREVERRR okay. its fine.

SWIM is so good as well maybe in my top 10. suchhh strong aussie accent its so funny. dramatic ass chorussss love it. I also love how mitchell like speeds up when saying "Pop a couple pills in the daytime" saur good.

Ozone is chillllllll not my fave i hardly listen to it but its nice to hear it sometimes randomly. I dont think ill ever get sobberrr (tears)

OKAY is good too...ok like its kind of mid compared to their other songs but i still listen to it all the time LMAO "Okay, okay, dirty habits well you dont say you dont say i got dirty in my own veins Cobain"

this is my first time properly listening to chase atlantic, and i'm only going to stick to tracks you've included on your playlist.

- friends ok sorry for being surprised and assuming this would be bad music, but this song is actually soooooo good??? the beginning is a little bit like ok you're trying to be the neighbourhood but with more whiny emoboy voice, but when the chorus hits i'm back in. second verse SLAYS THE EARTH, i love the gradually unmuffling vocals and then super emotive "and what THE HELL ARE WE?! tell me we weren't just friends" and somewhat atmospheric instrumental has this kind of nostalgic melancholy quality that i'm really into. A+ opener

- slow down extremely epic and killer follow up with the horns sample right at the top leading into this driving bassline, love a band that comes in with an orchestral ass intro just to start talking about cocaine. laughed at the *sniff* [australian accent] Naur Thenks. idk what tf they saying at this part or any part really but i looooooove the super dense sound of the chorus, it's giving me chills fr

First of all the songs u liked the most are absolute slayas i am very pleased to see it!!!!!! Taste as always. If my count is correct it's roughly 13/45 songs that you either liked a lot or tolerated slightly more than the others which is still a slay to me, gotta think positively, I literally would've been happy with you liking just one LMAO.

The lyrics in chase atlantic songs are absolutely ridiculous but as u pointed out they literally have iconic lyrics sometimes i cannot lie ("i look like a fucking walking corpse, girl. say the words R.I.P.”, “the only number on my phone i haven't changed yet, calling all my angels”). That's why a lot of the time I can ignore their flop cringe lyrics in favour of the slayers.

I also agree they do have some slow asf intros but it's usually the combination of chorus/christian verse/ sax solo that gets me hyped for even the slow ones. And i literally love how pathetic they are in a lot of these songs LMAO.

On your Her comment i also agree they be making the same song but they HAVE lost the Triggered formula (toxic sexy dramatic) which is soo saddd i need them back. I really feel like pre-self-titled they were in their male manipulator bag but now its the same drug abuse/slut music which like OKAYYYY still goes but it's not the same.

And also triggered like IS one of my fave songs it was in the 10 but i think i swapped it for swim? Or one of the newer ones. I feel like a baby with object permanence, I can listen to any CA song and immediately go “This is my favourite one”. So I feel like when I actually listen to triggered IT IS my fave.

re: mitchell forcefem, i was going to ask if chase atlantic have an rpf fandom contingent and went looking on ao3, which provided very sparse returns BUT that was how i found out two(?) of them are brothers so you know what that means.................... 😏 i doubt anyone out there will ever write the mitchell forcefem magnum opus but if you have any rotations to share from the past 5 days i will gladly eat them despite knowing literally nothing about this band still

i cant believe this is how im finding out chase atlantic is australian I THOUGHT WE WERE JOKING. i listened to most of their songs in one go but i was doing laundry at the same time so i cant really pick out individual songs... maybe a little too cohesive.

- now i already knew swim / friends / slow down / right here from fanedits so i kinda cant take these songs seriously even though you put them on your fave list oijwjgkljlsmdglg. sorry all i can see is jungkook bodyrolls.... they're catchy though.
